Meet the BOOX Note Air6 C: Colour Notes With Android 16

The BOOX Note Air6 C is the newest 10.3″ colour note-taking tablet in the lineup, and it is the first BOOX device to ship with Android 16. If you have been watching the Note Air5 C and waiting for a reason to move, the reason is not the screen. It is everything running behind it.

What the Note Air6 C is

It is a 10.3-inch colour E Ink tablet built around note-taking and document work. The Kaleido 3 panel renders 4,096 colours over a Carta1200 base behind a flat glass cover-lens, at 300 ppi in black and white and 150 ppi in colour. An adjustable warm and cold front light means it reads the same at a sunlit desk and on a late train. The BOOX Pen3 stylus is in the box, and it attaches magnetically to the side so it stops living at the bottom of your bag.

At roughly 440 g and 5.8 mm thick, it is a device you carry rather than a device you visit.

What actually changed from the Air5 C

The screen is the same size, the same technology, and the same resolution. The Air6 C is a platform upgrade, not a display upgrade, and it is worth being clear about that.

Two of those matter more than the rest. The 4 nm processor is the one you feel: paired with BOOX Super Refresh, large scanned colour PDFs open and pan without the stall that makes people give up on colour E Ink. And Talk Insights is the only item on that list the Air5 C cannot gain through a firmware update. It transcribes live in more than 20 languages and exports summaries to PDF or TXT, and Canada is on the supported region list, English and French included. It does need an internet connection and the latest firmware.

Android 16 sounds like a small step up from 15, and on a phone it would be. On a device you keep in service for years, app compatibility is what eventually ends its useful life, so starting a year later is worth more than the version number suggests.

Everything else carries over. RAM stays at 6 GB, storage at 64 GB with a microSD slot that takes cards up to 2 TB, and the battery at 3,700 mAh. The power button still doubles as a fingerprint reader.

Who it suits

The Air6 C is built for people whose reading produces something. Students working through colour-illustrated textbooks, researchers cross-referencing sources in split-screen, and anyone who annotates PDFs for a living will get more out of this than a pure reader will.

If you mostly read novels, a black-and-white device is still the sharper and cheaper answer, and our guide to choosing an E Ink tablet walks through that trade-off honestly. Colour E Ink renders colour at half the resolution of black and white, and the colour filter layer makes the background slightly darker than a monochrome panel. That is the cost of colour, on every device that has it.

The accessories

Two covers launch alongside it, and both also fit the Note Air5 C.

The magnetic keyboard cover turns it into something you draft on rather than only write on. It snaps on over pogo pins with no pairing step, has 64 keys with 1.25 mm of travel and a row of shortcuts, and carries a pass-through USB-C port so the tablet still charges with the cover attached.

The magnetic folio case comes in Umber and Graphite. It folds once into a stand that holds both landscape and portrait, supports auto sleep and wake, leaves the charging port open, and its flap holds the Pen3 so the stylus travels with the tablet.
