Meet the BOOX Go Series: Reading and Writing, Done Right

Every BOOX family has a personality. The Palma is the phone-shaped rebel, the Note line is the workhorse, and the Tab X is the flagship. The Go series is something quieter: the "just reading and writing, done right" line. No excess, no gimmicks, just clean E Ink hardware at three sizes and honest weights. If you are trying to pick your first BOOX, odds are good the answer lives here.

Go 6: the pocket minimalist

The Go 6 is the smallest of the family: a 6-inch E Ink Carta screen at a crisp 300 ppi, in a body around 146 grams. It is the closest thing to a paperback that runs Android, and it thrives in the places paperbacks thrive: transit, waiting rooms, one hand on a coffee.

The newer Go 6 (Gen II) builds on the same formula with a warm and cold front light and four colour finishes; we gave it a full introduction here.

Go 7: the sweet spot

Add an inch and you get the Go 7, our most-recommended dedicated reader. The 7-inch 300 ppi screen fits more words per page, the physical page-turn buttons make one-handed reading effortless, and 64GB of storage plus a microSD slot holds a lifetime of books. It is still light enough, at about 195 grams, to forget in a coat pocket.

Go Color 7: the same sweet spot, in colour

The Go Color 7 (Gen II) is the Go 7's colourful twin. Its Kaleido3 screen renders black-and-white text at 300 ppi and adds 4096 colours for comics, manga, magazines, and colour-coded highlights. If graphic novels are part of your library, this is your Go. We compare the two 7-inch models in detail in our Go 7 series introduction.

Go 10.3: when reading meets writing

The Go 10.3 is where the series stretches from reading into serious writing. Its 10.3-inch, 300 ppi screen shows a full document page, and the included stylus turns it into a paper-thin notebook for meeting notes, journaling, and PDF markup. At 4.5 mm thick and roughly 365 grams, it is one of the thinnest note-taking tablets you can buy. The Lumi variant adds a front light for working after dark.

How to choose your size

A simple way to decide:

  1. Where will it live? Jacket pocket: Go 6. Bag you always carry: Go 7 or Go Color 7. Desk and backpack: Go 10.3.
  2. What do you read? Novels: any size works, and buttons favour the Go 7. Comics and magazines: Go Color 7. PDFs, sheet music, and textbooks: Go 10.3.
  3. Do you write? Occasional margin notes work across the line with an optional stylus, but if handwriting is central to your day, the Go 10.3 with its included pen is the clear pick.

Whichever size you choose, the openness is the same: every Go runs Android, so Kindle, Kobo, and Libby install normally and your existing library comes along.
